Cooking just isn't fun for me if I don't have the right tools. If it's too much work, it really just takes the fun out of it. One way to bring excitement back into the kitchen is with silicone. It's just plain fun. I have silicone baking mats, mitts, and cupcake baking cups, but until recently I had nothing for frying.
Now I have this great silicone spatula. It seems to be a metal base, coated in silicone and not fully silicone, but it's not! It's fully silicone, but has a firm base that gives resistance and isn't soft like you'd think. It's very rigid and sturdy. At the edges though, it's pretty soft and flexible.
Because it's not plastic or metal, it won't scratch your pans. It won't ruin non-stick surfaces. That makes it a great tool for beginner cooks, like older children who are just branching out into frying things. You can trust them to cook without ruining your good pans.
I love that the spatula itself is non-stick. That means it won't stick to the food and it is super easy to clean. Do you know how many times I have scraped egg and cheese off a spatula? Too many times, my friends. Too many times, but no more! It's also stain resistant.
It worked really well I thought. It was exactly what I had hoped it would be and I will rest easy knowing that my pans won't be ruined and neither will my spatula. I would recommend this to anyone thinking about silicone in their kitchen.
