My sister has found a new hobby, It's nail art. Every time I see her she has a new beautiful design on her nails. Whether it be a new flower print for Spring, fireworks for Independence Day, stitches for Halloween, or some cool geometric design, it's always something new and fun.
So for Christmas we got her a set of nail polishes and some nail art brushes to go with them. This particular set of brushes is found on Amazon for a little over $5. They comes in eight different different shapes and sizes, including one metal tipped dotting pen.
The brushes are pretty cute, they are white all over with black swirls wrapping around the handles. The handles are thick on the base and narrow out toward the tip. They would fit well in any typical make-up brush bag.
The brushes are made to make thin designs or cover larger areas, some are made to be more pointed whereas others make more blunt shaped marks. The dotting pen does just as it sounds like, it creates dots.
The only thing that I found less than desirable about these brushes was that one of them fell apart when I took the rubber cover off. So it does make me a little worried that more might break. I'm sure it would be very easy to fix with some super glue though, and the price is nice. So that's just one of those things that you have to weigh and decide for yourself if it's worth it. It's also possible that I got a dud, which can happen with any product you get.
While I don't necessarily think that this set is anything overly special compared to other sets out there, it is an option and it's not a bad option. So if you're interested, you can find more info by checking out AStorePlus on Amazon.

One thing my kids always get an abundance of every Christmas is hat, scarf, and mittens sets. And that's okay, because we can use them, they get wet easily, need changing out frequently, and get lost easily. It's a fact of life when you have little ones. This year was no exception, though we did get fewer than usual... but each kid got at least one set. I got two sets of gloves, Broofy got one, and Baby Bee got two sets.
One of those is a beanie hat and scarf set from Fuzzy Green. Remember them? That's the company I got the skinny tie from. Anyway, this set is super cute, let me show you.
Let me clarify, the color of the items is like the professional photo above, not like the one of Baby Bee. My bedroom light tends to make things more yellow. But how cute is that, really? The knit patterns are beautiful, the colors are bold and vibrant, and the little touches are so adorable!
The hat actually resembles an artists' beret and could easily either be worn loosely as a beret or worn normal as a beanie, depending on your preference. We prefer beret. It has a super cute little bear/mouse accent in the front that is brown with a gold bow. It also has a sizable dark purple pouf on top.
The scarf is a really nice length and comes in matching colors. Each end has a pink pouf to match the pink in the scarf and hat. I like that the pouf on the scarf is not the same color as the one on the hat, it gives a nice amount of interest.
The set is pretty warm and I've heard no complaints. She chose to wear it on her own while indoors, so she must like it pretty well. It fits her well, she's a small five year old. I think these are just super cute and and I would recommend them.

Here at my house, we love dress-up. I think we have more dress-up clothes than we do regular dresses. And we have five girls in the house, so we have a lot of dresses. That picture above... that shows maybe a quarter of our dresses. I'm thinking more like a sixth. And we have that many costumes. We have one for each kid from each Halloween, roughly, plus extras we've grabbed along the way and been given over the years. We don't often purge our costume pieces.
You know who doesn't have many costumes? Me. I had a witch one that I think has been tossed out and I have my pirate wench one. That's it. Makes me sad. I just got a little accessory that is kind of like dress-up though, so I'm expanding. This wouldn't necessarily be for the kind of dress up you do with kids. But I did get some cute tights for maybe an adult Goldilocks costume. Wanna see?
It's got bears on it! Get it? Of course you do, tell me that wouldn't be perfect! They are tattoo tights from Babe Mall Inc and I just thought they were the cutest thing. Babe Mall Inc has a whole selection of them, from cats to lace to skylines, even a couple with the eiffel tower.
They're intended for size XXS to M, but I'm an XL and managed to squeeze it on. I'd say that one should probably follow size recommendations on this. Not that I look awful, I don't, but they are tighter than should be. See the poor bear's head all stretched? Yeah, not quite the cute look I'd go for. No fear though because my treadmill comes in February. Come June, I'll look just fine in them. But just a head's up, it only comes in the one size.
The black part of it is super shimmery and very black. It's so pretty. You can't really see through it at all. The skin colored area is slightly darker than my skin, but I'm pretty pale. I don't think anyone would notice that it was dark. On other people it was too light.
Where the top connects to the bottom, it's a little weird I think. There is a clear seam in the middle of the bear's forehead. The black nylon and the black paint don't mesh super well. Not that the hues don't match, but the texture and such doesn't. Also, the top part of the tights do not expand as well as the bottom, so if you have heavier thighs, they will be harder to squeeze on than you might be thinking. Just a little personal experience for you *wink*
I think these would make great addition to a grown-up dress-up chest, either for adult time with the husband or for costume parties, or some other fun time. To learn more, check out Babe Mall Inc on Amazon.

Last year we spent just about every single Summer day at the beach. We swam, ate, did crafts, hung out with friends, you name it! It was our home away from home. We were there every day and Boog especially loved it. He explored the beach and mostly stayed in the sand, making friends. Sometimes he would venture into the water and he always knew to go only so far and the come back. Sometimes he'd come out to the water to meet me and give me hugs and kisses, then go back to the sand, only to repeat the trip 20 more times.
Here's a few things we learned last year at the beach:
- Bring toys for the baby, babies like toys.
- Check the lost and found often.
- Dry the towels in good time or you'll be wet and chilly the next day.
- Bring extra toys to share.
- Even if you sharpie your name into said toys, some kid will inevitably take one home. Don't stress, buy cheap toys.
- Bring a snack just in case the lunch lady plays hooky.
- Give a count down so the kids know they will be getting out of the water soon. It prevents tantrums and they really will actually get out. Usually.
- Don't forget the lawn chair in case the picnic tables are taken.
- Choose the smaller beach during peak season, you don't need to deal with a full beach when you have a bunch of kids yourself.
- Blonde is a GREAT color for the beach. Seriously, it always took about three seconds to spot all of my kids in the water. Why are there so few blonde people?
- Other people will feel like they need to watch your kid and will get irritable if your kid walks into the water without you. Other people also were not raised with the respect that you were and will feel the need to be rude and tell you what to do. Ignore them, your kids have the right to play without you holding their hand.
- Kids love beach accessories. Goggles, plugs, floaties, all of it. Just maybe don't buy 20 floaties and expect them all to fit in the van. Sharing is good, but so is being able to see when you are driving.
On that last note, while we wouldn't choose to wear swimming caps to the beach, we did use accessories this year, like goggles and nose clips. Our friends loved our nose clips and always asked us to share, which of course we did. This year we will be stocking up on goggles and plugs before the season hits. We just got a cool new ear plugs and nose clip bundle from Supreme Sports Gear to start us off.
The ear plugs come in two different sizes to accommodate for different sized ears. This is a great thing, because I have very tiny ears and often times, things for the inside of the ear (such as ear buds or foam plugs) won't fit.
They are made of a soft silicone and don't hurt the ears. They stay put too. They create a small suction when removed, so they aren't likely to fall out by themselves. When you're ready to take them out, you just pull the stem.
The nose clip for me was a miss, but I'm sure my kids will use it. The problem I found was that the top of my nose, where the bone is, is rather wide and the clip wouldn't fit over it. Because it wouldn't fit over it, the black silicone pieces felt like they were going to slide off the tip of my nose. For my kids with smaller noses, this might fit just fine.
