My dental hygiene habits are not great. I blame it on my childhood... can I do that? I do remember being asked to brush my teeth once in a while and I remember in high school, I brushed almost every morning and tried to get myself in better habits. But to be honest, I am terrible at anything that's "routine". My teeth are so bad now, brushing hurts and I hate flossing. I've always hated flossing. the picks don't bother me too bad, but the string turns my fingers blue and slips off my finger tips. I hate everything about it.
Until now. Why? Well, because I have a water flosser. It's a device that creates a very strong stream of water that blasts through the gaps between your teeth and essentially flosses your teeth for you. It's amazing. I'll be honest here and say that if the water isn't warm, it hurts my teeth. So although I do try to keep the flosser by my bed to remind myself, I can't use it without going to get warm water... room temp water is too cold.
The flosser doesn't run on batteries like you might expect. It runs on an internal battery that you recharge by plugging it into the wall, much like your cell phone does. I haven't charged mine once and I've used it for at least a week on the charge it came with!
The flosser has three modes. It has a normal mode, a soft mode, and a pulse for massage. More brutal honesty, the normal mode actually made my gums bleed a little. It's a powerful stream of water. My gums are very unhealthy though, so it's no real surprise. The soft was fine and I should use it until my gums are more healthy. The pulse was interesting. I prefer a more steady stream, personally.
It holds the water in a removable water tank. you can either fill it up by taking the water tank off or just flipping up the cover on the top of the machine and using that. Both work just as well, it's all just a preference thing.

My kids are short, most of them will always be short. And that's okay. Personally, I do wish things (specifically store shelves) were designed with short people in mind. Like seriously, how awesome would it be to have a step run the whole length of the aisle, so use short people could MAYBE reach the soda... just saying. Things will always be challenging for us. Reaching the pedals, kitchen cupboards, bathroom mirrors, all things we struggle with. And for kids, it's worse. They can't even reach things like the middle shelf on a bookcase or the TV buttons without help. Poor little guys.
One thing in my home though, is about to become a little less harder. That thing is reaching the water when the faucet is on. Poor Baby Bee... when she goes to brush her teeth at our sink, she has to come in from the side of the sink and reach for all she's worth to get her brush wet. I feel for her. Luckily we have a set of faucet extenders now, What are they?
They're cute little creature like pouts that attach to the end of the faucet and propel the water forward so kids can reach the water stream. It's pretty nifty I think. The creature's head and ears are made from silicone, so it's soft and won't hurt your faucet. It's also grippy, so it won't move much or come loose and fall off. It's a different color than the spout.
The spout is made of a harder plastic and helps guide the water to a place further forward, closer to the front of the sink. This is helpful in lots of situations. Obviously if a child can't reach the faucet, they can't reach to turn the sink on, but when you are standing at the sink with them, when siblings are, when another parent is... this has lots of applications. For instance, Baby Bee and Boogie brush their teeth when I do, so if they can reach the water by themselves, that's a lot less work for me. Not too long ago I finally got a new liner for my shower. It was time. I miss my old thick vinyl, but it was torn to shreds on the bottom. It was also a pain to clean the curtain because every time I had to clean the curtain, I had to take the curtain and liner apart and it was heavy. I had to hold my arms up for forever while I removed the hook, removed the curtain and liner, replaced the liner only, then replaced the hook. I did it all in reverse when the curtain was clean

Now when I take the curtain or liner off by itself, it takes me about 30 seconds. That's not even long enough for my arms to get tired! You know what that means? That means my curtain will be cleaned a lot more often. It also means I can change my curtain out when I want a change in pace without the dread of doing it.

Every once in a while when I'm looking for new things that I want to try, I find something that I struggle with. I know that I need to be more organized and sometimes I come across something that isn't necessarily needed. I know it's not needed, but it looks so cool! You know that feeling? Sometimes it's an item that I could use, but likely might not use often, or it's an item that I have always wanted to try, but I know I might not use it at all after the initial "oooh" and "aww" of it.
Well, this was one of those things. I wanted to see it and try it, but I was sure it wouldn't be something I would likely use too often. It's the Unisex Atomizer / Spray Bottle. Obviously, I chose pink, so it's not super unisex. But it comes in silver too. It's basically a super small spray bottle that you can carry with you in case you need a spritz here and there.
It looks cool, right? It'll pretty much hold anything that you but in a spray bottle. I chose to use it for a perfume that my mom bought me. It's a small bottle, the type you get in a convenience store. So imagine my surprise when I got done filling the atomizer and realized that my perfume bottle was pretty much still full!
And it's lasted me longer than expected too. Though it clearly sprays well and enough of it comes out so that I don't need to spray more times than usual, it's not dwindling as fast as you'd think a tiny bottle would.
To fill the atomizer, you just find the hole in the bottom, then remove the spray cap from the full bottle you are putting into the atomizer. You align that straw with the atomizer's hole and pump until it's full. It was super easy.
And here, you can see that it sprays quite well. Because it's so small, I can carry it all the time in any pocket without it being in the way or being obvious. So I am definitely planning to use it more often than I thought. It stays in my coat and when I walk out the door just having rolled out of bed, I can at least smell okay.
This atomizer is less than $4 on Amazon, I recommend it for anyone who could use a small spritzer to take with them or for any parent looking for a stuffer for your older child who maybe is just dabbling in cologne or body sprays. I've had the same shower curtain liner for about 11 years now. When I moved into my first apartment, there were lots of dishes and other miscellaneous things left behind by the previous tenant. Not one to be wasteful, and not one to be choosy, I made use of it all. I especially loved the curtain and liner for the shower. The liner was thick and clear and the curtain itself was beautiful, black and red with the red layer parted to look like an actual window curtain... I miss it. Unfortunately, my kids can be animals sometimes and they destroyed it. They did also destroy the liner, but I refused to part with it because I loved it so much.
Well, it's officially been replaced now. Though, I think I will be re-purposing the vinyl that's left. This shower curtain is the Non-toxic Eco-friendly Peva Frosted Shower Curtain Liner and is thicker than other curtains I have seen at Walmart, Family Dollar, and other stores I frequent. It doesn't seem like it would rip with a good tug, it seems a good deal more sturdy than that. Durability is a pretty big deal in my house because my kids can be destructive when they want to be.
The frosted look is nice, it's not clear, but it's not completely white either. It brightens up the shower, while still letting the actual curtain show through. But of course, you could choose to use this by itself too without a decorative outer curtain. As you can see, there is additional support around the eyelets to help protect the liner from ripping. The eyelets are also rust-proof, which is a pretty nice feature. Our last liner was quite rusted on the metal bits.
The size of the liner is awesome! It's 72"x72", so it's quite tall, which I'm sure my husband will love. I was able to raise the curtain rod at least 6 inches when I switched liners! It helps make the bathroom look taller and it makes you feel less exposed. Overall, I just love this liner, it is everything I thought it would be.
