Bunny Slippers Review

I love to be comfortable, who doesn't?  Wouldn't you just lay in bed all day if you could, wrapped up in a nice warm comforter that's way too big for your bed while reading a book or watching TV and eating a nice big bowl of comfort food?  I would!  Especially in the winter when the air is dry and uncomfortable, not to mention chilly.  I hate being chilly.  But I love comfort, which is why it is surprising to me that I don't own more slippers.  I have 2 pair and neither were ones I bought for myself.  In fact, I usually go around in flip flops or some other form of sandal and freeze my tootsies off all for the sake of comfort.  I never really noticed how much that didn't make sense.
But a few weeks ago, I was made aware of this when I saw these insanely comfy looking slippers from Bunnyslippers.com. Of course, the mom in me thought of my kids first, but when they arrived, I almost wished I had gotten adult size because oh my gosh, they are SOFT!  They remind me of the mitts you wear to wax your car, the ones in Walmart that you always see and take a second to feel because they look so soft, but but never actually get because after all,  who can afford to wax..?  THOSE mitts.  They even look slightly like those mitts but way cuter.  Heck, I'd probably get those mitts at Walmart if they looked this cute.
With the spotted nose and everything... tell me that's not cute.  I love the moppy look and the little antennas.  The streaker will love these!  They are just one of 26 different pairs of fuzzy slippers you can find at Bunny Slippers.  I'm loving the bee ones, I might have to get a pair for Baby Bee sometime :)
These slippers have more of a supportive sole than a plush squishy type, but the insides of the toes are stuffed with softness.  I like that because usually with the plush soles, they get thin in spots overtime and that's no good.  The bottoms also have non-slip dots for safe traveling on those nighttime bathroom trips and such.
When looking through BunnySlippers.com, I loved seeing all the different options, from Animal Slippers, to Chewy and Yoda, to Bugs and Taz, Patriots and Cowboys, to Microwaveable!  You're not dreaming, I really did just say that.  Microwaveable slippers... I had no idea that dream even existed, and even in that cute moppy look!  I'm really not sure slippers could get any better, unless of course they spit out cash when you walked ;)
There is only one kids size and I think the kids size will work fine for all of my kids.  My kids range in age from 2 1/2 to 8.  The slipper has an 8 inch insole, so it's easy enough to measure and be sure before ordering.  The streaker is almost 5, so I just trusted Bunny Slippers to take care of me and they didn't let me down, these slippers are sure to fit her.  They will probably fit her for 2 or 3 more years as well.
If you visit Bunny Slippers (and I hope you do), you will notice that slippers, though their main item, is not all they sell.  They sell socks, hooded towels, stuffies and some other home goodness.  They have some great seasonal items if you are into that, like this snowman hooded towel or some cute Christmas themed socks.
They are also apparently a good source for educating oneself, because after browsing their site, I had to research and find out exactly what a Cthulhu was.  Essentially, it is this guy:
A squid faced man with claws and wings, created by a man named H. P. Lovecraft and first seen in his short story "The Call of Cthulhu".  In case you already knew that and you are a Lovecraft fan, Bunny Slippers has a slipper for that.  Aren't those great people at Bunny Slippers prepared?
Well, I wish I could stay and chat all day about how awesome these slippers are, but I need to go find socks cause my daughter got the slippers and my feet are still cold.  But I will leave you with this little guy, who in a happy little coincidence came in on the Bunny Slippers Package.  I don't remember ordering him, perhaps he was a perk?  Or maybe he just liked the slippers as much as I do :)
     Happy Shopping!

T-Shirts.com Review and Giveaway

I don't know many people who don't love and miss their childhood days.  For me personally, I miss the magic of Adventures in Wonderland and the fact that I never noticed that the Fraggles had wires under their arms.  I miss the days spent endlessly just trying to come up with ways to earn money, actually believing that people may want to buy mud/clay figurines sculpted by kids or that any sane person would actually allow a 7 year old girl to use a push mower.  I think that's why I love vintage looking shirts so much.  They just remind me of the good days, a lot of them even have the Fraggles and other childhood memories printed on them.  I have quite a few and love to grab one when I see one in the stores if I have the money to do so.  I have a Pepsi one and a Thumper one among others.  If it reminds me of my childhood, it makes me happy.
So when I went looking for a gift for my brother, it occurred to me that I didn't know him as well as I would like to admit.  We don't see each other often and we didn't hang out much growing up.  I didn't have many ideas, but I knew a t-shirt is a pretty safe gift to give.  Immediately, I was directed to T-shirts.com.  Actually, it was only search result #10 in my Google hunt.  Quite frankly, it was one of the most enticing of those 10.
When I looked around, I was excited to see all of the options, a lot of them were artist designed, which I think is awesome.  This one in particular was one that caught my attention because honestly, who doesn't love Ramen and Video Games?
It is one of the many artist designed shirts on the site.  But there are more categories than just artist designed.  There are in fact twenty-nine categories, including Pop-culture, Novelty T-Shirts, Funny, Cheap, Blank, and Animal.  You can find anything from your favorite team to a well loved show on these shirts.
I looked and looked and had a bit of trouble deciding between all the great designs, but there was one that really stuck out.  And I should mention here that I know this shirt is not entirely family friendly and may even be seen as mildly offensive, but let me explain...  My brother is a beer enthusiast.  He makes beer at his home and experiments with making his own flavors, it is a passion of his.  He isn't an alcoholic, he just likes the taste and was always an adventurer.  He has also vocalized his disdain for parents forcing their children to finish their plates, especially when coupled with "There are starving children in *insert third world country here*".  We would laugh and agree that it in fact doesn't make sense to make a child feel bad and stuff themselves because that food on their plates would never make it to Africa and still be good :)  So when this shirt was found, my sister and I both agreed that it was the one to get him:
When the shirt first came (it came super fast by the way), it was folded really neatly inside a clear plastic bag which was inside a second plastic mailing envelope.  I have gotten many shirts by mail before and most came kinda smooshed into a package that was way over-sized, but I was pleasantly surprised with how neatly this shirt was packaged.  I could tell right away before I even took it out of the clear wrapper that it was of decent quality and probably soft.  I was right on both counts.  This shirt fit very nicely and was definitely comfortable.  It wasn't wrinkly at all and the printing was very well done.
Here is what it looked like right out of the package:
I am so excited to give this to my brother because I know it will make him laugh.  Thanks T-Shirts.com!
But T-Shirts.com is not just giving me a great gift to give my brother, they are also giving one to you!  All you have to do is be our lucky winner, just enter using Raffecopter below and you are all set :)  Good Luck!

Whirl-a-Style Review and Giveaway

My hair is always in a ponytail.  Okay, not always, occasionally I wear it down, but pretty much always.  I am a very no-fuss, no-nonsense kind of girl when it comes to my hair.  With four kids and one more close at hand, it just doesn't make sense to spend even 10 minutes on my hair when it seems like we are always running late for things even without spending any time on it.  That's why Whirl-a-Style was so appealing to me as a mom.  I can do easy up-do's and half up-do's with only 15-30 seconds extra prep time.  I can do that while I wait for the kids to buckle :)
Whirl-a-Style is a hair accessory that looks like a rubber "C" with a slit style opening down the middle.  Your hair goes through the opening and you pull the Whirl-a-Style until it reached the end of your shortest layer of hair.  Then you curl the Whirl-a-Style towards your head and when you reach your head, you clasp the ends together to create a perfect bun.  This video shows many ways you can use it, all of which taking very minimal time:

For review I was asked for my hair length, which is 16 inches, and was sent a large size.  It took a bit of getting used to, I think because my hair is on the thicker side.  I think also because some of my hair is shorter than the rest.  But like all good things, it is coming with time and practice.  I can get a real nice look when I put half of my hair up and leave half down.  To do this, I just follow these steps with only the top half of my hair:

Step 1: Pull your hair back into a ponytail with a ponytail holder. For an extra sleek bun, make sure your hair is wet or damp.

Step 2: Feed the hair of ponytail through the Whirl-A-Style until it bumps into the hair tie at the base of the ponytail.

Step 3: If you have layers, do NOT pull the Whirl-a-Style down to the tip of your hair. Pull the Whirl-a-Style back until you encounter your shortest layer. Stop here and roll up.

Step 4: Roll the Whirl-a-Style up towards the top of your head. You should snap it together by pulling the ends down when you get to the base of your ponytail holder again.

If some ends of your hair stick out, never fear! Take them and roll them around the base of your bun. You can insert one pin into the base of your bun to hold them down as well once you roll them up.

I found those steps on the Whirl-a-Style Forum (yes, they have a forum) and it has proven very helpful.  The site also has an introduction page to help you learn how to use it that I also found helpful.
The only thing that left me feeling let down in the slightest was that it tends to pull a bit when it is taken out.  However, I think it would be hard to create something like this without there being some pull.  Perhaps I just haven't learned the right method for taking my hair out of it yet :)
There is also an alternative to Whirl-a-Style called the Klicinz which allows the addition of jewels and charms for a more sophisticated or glamorous look.  It is sold right on the Whirl-a-Style site for the same price as the original.     I would recommend the Whirl-a-Style for moms on the go as well as anyone looking for the perfect bun (a dancer, cheerleader, gymnast perhaps).  It makes quick and easy work of making a nice hairstyle for lots of different occasions.
Here is your chance to win one (makes a great stocking stuffer).  Just enter using the Rafflecopter's easy entry method and you are all set!

1,000 Days: The Ministry of Christ Book Review

In all the time that I have been a Christian, not one time did it occur to me that the ministry of Jesus lasted only 3 short years.  That's it!  He has been remembered this entire time and loved and sought after because of THREE years that he had while on Earth.  Of course he was alive for much longer than three years.  But when you think of it, presidents will never be thought of as fondly or remembered as well after many years in office.  Senators, congressmen, entertainers... some day they may all very well fade from all but the history books after decades of service and here is this man who has lived for thousands of years in the hearts of a good part of the world's population because of what he did in three years.  It blows my mind.
That's why when I saw the book 1000 Days: The Ministry of Christ, it stood out to me.  I am so glad that I got this book.  I had heard so many stories of Jesus before that they were all old and dare I say, uninteresting.  After twenty years of hearing them, I just wasn't intrigued anymore.  But the way that Jonathan Falwell wrote this book made the stories real, like they happened to a friend just yesterday. The stories also were told in such a way that I understood how they related to MY life and why they were important to me personally, even if they happened over two thousand years ago.
I was super happy that the book didn't take on a sermon-type feel, as I can have a hard time reading books that are very factual sounding or like a text book.  The book reads very well, so much so that not only did I not tire of it, but I couldn't put it down!
I most definitely recommend 1000 Days: The Ministry of Christ to anyone looking to connect themselves with the Bible stories they have heard for so long or to anyone who just wants a good Christian read.  Two thumbs way up for an awesome book.  Thanks Jonathan Falwell!

I received this book through BookSneeze.com for the purpose of reviewing, all opinions are 100% my own.
