Baby Bee is so fair that she's practically allergic to the sun. She can and will break out from being exposed to the outdoors for as little as a half hour, even in the winter. Last year, she was out playing in the snow and she came back in an hour later and her face was starting to swell into a reddish rash and it came on quite suddenly and grew over the next few hours. Her eyes started to puff up and looked painful. I took her t the ER, worried it might be measles because measles was going around. The diagnosis was pretty unclear and I left the ER feeling really confused, but what I got out of it was that her diagnosis was basically "the elements".
The doctor recommended both sunscreen and moisturizer to combat the issue. Sometimes I forget and she's fine, but sometimes I forget and her eye area breaks out in red puffiness and I feel terrible. So I am always buying new sunscreens and lotions for her. I figure the more of each I have, the more likely I am to remember. But recently we started trying something new. It's Elba Naturals Daily Moisturizer with Sunscreen.
What's awesome about this is that it has both things that the doctor recommended. Even if we don't remember to use it every day, she will still be better off getting both at once when we do remember. Her skin can both be protected and be healed all at once.
This moisturizer has 27 ingredients in all. It has Beeswax, Palm Wax, Zinc Oxide & Octyl Methoxycinnamate, along with a bunch more. It has an SPF rating of 30 and works well as an every day skin cream. We found that it's absolutely perfect for Baby Bee and her skin needs.
It comes in a 1 fl. oz. pump bottle, which is a good size for carrying around. You don't need much of it at all, so the bottle lasts a while. It pumps easy with no clumps or anything. The only issue that I noticed with it is that sometimes the bottle loosens and needs to be screwed a bit tighter. It does this every 5th or 6th time that I use it.
The skin cream itself is a white lotion type cream that feels just like lotion. To be honest, I did break out a bit in the areas that I used it on. My daughter hasn't has any issues, so I recommend it for anyone who might need sun protection AND moisturization. Do you use sunscreen daily?
