Maybe I'm crazy, but I take diaper bags about as seriously as most women do their purses. I've had plenty of diaper bags over the years. From the beloved Winnie the Pooh bag that matched my travel system and play pen, to the hand made beautiful pink floral quilted one my cousin made me when I was pregnant with Baby Bee. I have a nice tan one that I use now in conjunction with the pink one, and I have others as well. A good baby bag is invaluable to new moms.
My sister-in-law just had a baby this week and she's adorable. I can't wait to meet her. And I know that she had a diaper bag already, but I wanted to give her something girly because she had a girl this time around. I was lucky enough to be given a pink striped owl themed diaper bag and stroller organizer from Nimnyk.
First of all, it's bright and vivid, which I love. The saturation of the color is eye catching, I love when colors pop. The owl is adorable and the brown is a rich chocolatey brown, which I adore. The little bit of green thrown in there is a nice touch.
The front has two pockets. They seem perfect sized for things such as a packet of wipes or a squeezable food pouch. They are not overly large, but are a nice medium size. One has a flap closure with the company logo, while the other is an open pocket with the cute owl on the front.
The back has one large pocket, perfect for a small blanket. It runs the whole length of the bag. I may be a little unorthodox, but I always use it for the diapers and wipes. I'm never out long enough to require more than a diaper or two and a small packet of wipes. I use the big compartment for the more meaty stuff, like snacks, formula if needed, blanket, extra clothes, toys, etc.
The ends of the bag each have a cinched pocket that's perfect for a bottle or pacifier pouch. It would also be great for a to-go cup of snacks. They are a nice size to accommodate for a lot of different things. A toy, perhaps?
The inside is pretty awesome. First of all, it has a changing pad. I'll be brutally honest here and say that it seemed a bit cheap to me. It reminded me a bit of the type you get at the Dollar Tree. So this wasn't overly impressive. But it also comes with a wet bag. And THAT I thought was genius. In all my years of diaper bags, I've never once had a wet bag... at all. But this one comes with the bag, matches the bag, and is perfect for keeping soiled clothes or diapers when you have no place to dispose of them. Like for instance, I wouldn't dispose of a diaper anywhere that was public, I didn't want to burden anyone with the smell of baby poo. But there were a few times when I kind of walked around smelling like a diaper because it was in my bag waiting to be thrown away. So this would have been brilliant, wish I'd thought of it.
Also on the inside is a divider. Or is that a pocket? Well, as you can see, there is a pocket on the left hand side for things that you don;t want to get lost in the endless chasm that is a baby bag. But there's also the very large pocket/divider on the right that transforms your baby bag into an organizer. You can place diapers and wipes on one side and clothes on the other... or something. I love it.
The bag has a double zipper with attached pull so that you can zip it shut one-handed. Now, here's where I mention the one thing that really bummed me out about this bag. And let me say that I really think this was a one bag issue and not something that would happen to probably anyone else. I even read a bunch of reviews on this bag to see if anyone else had this issue. They didn't, so it's almost not worth mentioning.
But the bottom insert to the bag did come quite bent due to the way that it was put into the package. Luckily, there is a 1 year money back warranty on it. I didn't use it because I knew I wouldn't get a new bag in time for my niece to be here. If my sister-in-law wished for an exchange, I will leave that in her hands.
Like I said though, I really do think it was a one-time, one-bag issue. So I have no doubt whatsoever that you will love yours... if you want it, that is. All you have to do is enter my giveaway!
